2012 Native American Appreciation Blog
In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

Thanksgiving: The Truth behind the Glitz
Here comes the explanation, beyond the general meaning of our Family mourning and celebrating ONLY Native American Appreciation in the month of November for Thanksgiving
According to many sources, which has been stated by Native American Sociaties, Organizations & Historians, after the feast that took place with early European settlers "pilgrims", there were many battles that broke out once the Native's learned of more settlers yet to come. They believed in sharing the land, however, this would force many, thousands of Natives from thier lands and gruesome battles took place, involving 1'000s of deaths of Native warriors, woman and children.
To this day, Native Americans worldwide gather to remember the history and injustices to them during the European settlement. They refere Thanksgiving to be "the beginning of the end". Still alot of Americans and English celebrate as traditional to The European thought up "Thanksgiving", though the Natives also celebrated in more of a harvest ritual to give luck to thier crops.
Thus knowing this only about 10 years ago, our Family has refused to celebrate the traditional Thanksgiving, we celebrate harvest near the more common time of Autumn Equinox, for it would be an insult to the Native Americans and thier ancestors. We throw a feast yet with hair feathers adorned, paying homage to thier kindnesses and aknowledge thier severe loss and effect on our Tribes. We also include thier presense in our work, blogs & any other way we can pay appreciation to our Natives during the Month of November.
Now for The Celebration!
We have picked 20 artists/designers showing off thier Native American Appreciation as well! Each artist's work on product were hand picked based on creativity and really sharing thier Native spirit! Congrats to all Zazzlers that were picked, it would be an honor to include you in our Native American homage this year!
Thats all Folks!
Thank you all for taking the time to come out. We did not post this blog to knock down anyones Holiday, just an explanation, which we give every year, to our own doings in the month of November. However you want to celebrate is your choice, but please, for the sake of the Native groups that mourn Thanksgiving, never forget about our Native ancestors here the the US & Canada and allow thier day of mourning to make way into your Thanksgiving blessings this year and have a wonderful Thanksgiving and for gods sake.....
